Empanadas are small, easy-to-hold pockets of pasty-like crust stuffed with a sweet or savory filling. They’re delightful on the palate, though finding ones with the right crunch and mix of flavors can be difficult. You want a dough that is slightly flavored and will complement any filling. But the good news is, Panama City residents and visitors can easily access this cuisine if they know the right joints.

At Amavida Coffee Roasters, they pair two of your morning favorites in one. This coffee house consistently drops new roasts to keep things fresh for customers and minimize the outlet’s carbon footprint. The Florida Sunrise Blend, a local favorite, is chocolatey, dense, and clean. It has just enough caffeine to get you up in the morning and energize you for the rest of the day. Pair your morning brew with a flakey empanada from the cafe, and we reckon your morning will begin on a great note.

Most menu items are fried, and there are baked treats, too. So, grab a dessert to enjoy after dinner. You won’t regret it.

Your tires are the only part of your vehicle in direct contact with the road. That’s why it’s so vital for you to ensure your tires are always in good condition. Tires that are poorly maintained or too old can pose a safety risk, not only to you and your passengers but also to other motorists around you. Here’s a helpful guide put together by our auto service experts at Panama City Toyota on how often to replace your tires.

How Long Do My Tires Last?

Image via Flickr under CC BY 2.0 by Everycar_Listed_Photos

There are two factors to keep in mind when you’re considering how long your tires can last. The first is their age, and the second is tread wear. Both of these factors can be influenced by your driving habits and the environment you live in, so it’s essential to regularly check your tires’ condition to ensure they’re still up to standard. Our certified auto technicians will be happy to help you with this at our service center.

On average, your tires will need replacing after about six years of driving. This rule should be followed even if their tread appears to be okay. After around six or seven years of driving, the rubber can become more brittle, increasing the risk of a blowout.

However, if your tires’ tread wears down to unsafe levels before the passage of a six-year period, you’ll need to change your tires sooner. Your tires may wear out sooner if you do more driving than average or you regularly apply your brakes sharply.

How Can I Tell When I Need New Tires?

There are two simple ways to determine the age of your tires and their tread wear. First, each tire has a code on its side that tells you when it was manufactured. The four-digit code provides you with the week and the year the tire was produced. For example, if the code is “3215,” it means that your tire was manufactured during the 32nd week of 2015. The four-digit code is usually preceded by the initials DOT, which stands for Department of Transportation. If the code shows that your tires are more than six years old, it’s time to start looking for a new set.

You can determine if a tire’s tread is safe by performing the coin test. To perform the test, all you need to do is place a quarter or a penny into the center of the tire’s tread with the head pointing down. If you’re using a quarter and the tread is in line with the top of Washington’s head, the tire will soon need replacing. If you use a penny and the tread is in line with the top of Lincoln’s head, you’ll need to replace your tires immediately as the tread depth is already too low.

Why Is It Important To Replace My Tires?

Driving with tires that are too old can result in reduced performance and cause accidents. Therefore, it’s illegal to drive with worn-out tires.

A tire with less than the legally required tread is unsafe because it is less able to grip the road. With this reduced level of control, you’re more likely to collide with another vehicle. You’re also likely to experience poor tire performance during spells of heavy rain or snow. If your car has worn out tires, you’ll also need a longer distance to come to a stop, which can make the difference between you averting an accident and causing one.

The older tires get, the more prone they become to punctures and blowouts. This risk is especially present for tires over the six-year age limit we discussed earlier. A flat tire can leave you stranded in the middle of nowhere, while a blowout at the wrong moment can have far more severe consequences.

To avoid these dangers, you should make tire care a key part of your vehicle’s routine maintenance regime. If you get your oil changed, fluid top-ups, and brake pad changes performed at our service center, our expert technicians can regularly inspect your tires to confirm they’re still safe to ride on. They can also perform regular tire rotations, which can help lengthen the life of your tires.

How Should I Choose A New Set Of Tires?

One way to decide the best type of tires to purchase for your vehicle is to check your owner’s manual. You’ll find it contains information on the tires used by the manufacturer when they built your car. If you can’t find your owner’s manual, you can check the size of your tires by locating a code consisting of numbers and letters on the side of your tire. The first three numbers in the code tell you what the width of your tire is in millimeters. The two digits following the slash provide you with your tire’s aspect ratio, which is the height of your tire as a percentage of its width. For instance, if the number is 60, it means that the height of your tire is 60% of its width. You need to know all of this information to buy a set of tires with the correct dimensions.

When it comes to purchasing a new automobile, fuel efficiency is crucial for most car shoppers. To get around Panama City with as few trips to the gas station as possible, it makes sense to get behind the wheel of a fuel-efficient vehicle.

Nowadays, fuel-efficient vehicles are in high demand as they reduce emissions and save consumers money. As the automotive industry has advanced technology and engineering, gas mileage has increased across the board. However, specific models continue to lead the pack regarding fuel efficiency, and Toyota is well-known for continually manufacturing such fuel-efficient automobiles.

The collections of low fuel consumption Toyota vehicles in the automotive market are overwhelming. To make it easier, here are some of the best Toyota cars with the highest fuel-economy ratings:

What Is MPG?

Image via Flickr under CC BY 2.0 by JeepersMedia

MPG measures the fuel economy, so understanding what it is and how it works can be a massive benefit if you need help deciding which new vehicle to purchase.

MPG stands for miles per gallon. It informs you the distance your vehicle can travel for every gallon (or 4.55 liters) of gas used. Additionally, it is the primary measurement of a vehicle’s fuel efficiency. That means the higher the MPG, the greater the fuel efficiency. For example, if your car has 50 mpg, and the fuel tank has a gallon of gas, you should be able to cover 50 miles before running out of fuel.

As you may not know, it’s the responsibility of the United States Environmental Protection Agency, or the EPA, to approve a car’s MPG values. Due to various factors, a vehicle’s MPG can be inconsistent. Consequently, the EPA will run tests over a standard set of courses, then average the results to calculate a car’s official MPG. The EPA also provides every vehicle with three different MPG ratings:

  • City MPG: Average score in city conditions with starting and stopping at lower speeds
  • Highway MPG: Average score on an open stretch of road without accelerating or decelerating, typically at a higher speed
  • Combined MPG: Average of both city and highway Mpg

Now, let’s discuss a few Toyota models with the best gas mileage:

Toyota Prius

Recognized for its impressive gas mileage, the Toyota Prius is an excellent ride for anyone looking for a fuel-efficient car. There are many different models to choose from, all with remarkable gas mileage. For instance, the 2015 Prius base trim gets a city mpg of 51 and an mpg of 48 on the highway. These high ratings are partly because of its regenerative braking system. The system converts energy frequently lost through the braking process and stores it in the car’s battery.

Toyota RAV4

The RAV4 is Toyota’s first compact crossover SUV, retaining all the advantages of a conventional SUV. Despite its demanding first-rate features, it’s one of the most efficient Toyota SUVs. The Rav4 boasts a four-cylinder 2.5Litre engine with an automatic transmission system paired with a 25 city mpg, 33 highway mpg and a combined 38 mpg. It also runs on 3.6 gallons per 100 miles.

Toyota Corolla

This car is an excellent option when you’re on the hunt for a quality, affordable vehicle with good gas mileage. Like the Yaris, the Toyota Corolla has 36 highway mpg. While driving around the city, the Corolla averages an mpg of 28. While this automobile is sure to give you a great bang for your buck, it will also provide you with an enjoyable, quiet drive every time.

Toyota Yaris

The Yaris is a hatchback with incredible gas mileage. With a 30 city mpg and an impressive 36 highway mpg, arriving at your destination without having to fill up your tank multiple times is never a worry. There’s also so much cargo room that gardening projects, roads trips, or furniture moving are always an option in your Toyota Yaris.

Fuel Economy Tips

Fuel-efficient driving can save you a considerable amount of money annually, prevent wear on your car, and improve road safety. If you adopt these fuel-efficient driving techniques, you will be able to reduce your car’s carbon dioxide emissions and fuel consumption:

  • Accelerate gently. Your driving style might have a big effect on how much gas you use. It’s best to keep your driving smooth. Slow acceleration and using the highest safe gear should help use less gas.
  • Brake slowly. Sharp braking causes your engine to burn fuel at a higher rate. Therefore, staying focused on the road and allowing yourself plenty of time to react can make a big difference in your fuel consumption.
  • Avoid idling. When your vehicle is running but not moving, your gas mileage is zero. So, if your car will remain motionless for more than a minute, you should switch off the engine.
  • Observe speed limits. Fuel economy peaks at around 50 mph on most automobiles then drops as speeds increase. Reducing highway speeds by 5 to 10 mph can significantly improve fuel economy.
  • Use cruise control. Making the most of your car’s cruise control helps prevent speeding and improve fuel economy.
  • Empty your trunk. Driving around with your trunk full adds weight and reduces your fuel mileage. Every 50 pounds of added weight results in a 1% reduction in fuel economy.
  • Improve your car’s aerodynamic. You can do so by removing the roof racks on top of the vehicle or waxing your car.

Before you go car shopping, you need to prepare. The sheer volume of unfamiliar terminology makes car buying a daunting task for most people. If you’re a car shopper looking for the best deal for the best car at the dealership or auction, you need to learn the terminology. You don’t necessarily have to become an expert on the car terminology, but you only need to familiarize yourself with these terms and their definitions. Our experts at  Panama City Toyota want to share some of the car-buying terms you should know.

Financing

Image via Unsplash by timbatec

Financing a car means that you’re borrowing money from a bank, online lender, credit union, finance company, or dealership to buy a car. For many people in the U.S., a car is a big purchase that requires several months or even years of saving.

According to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, more than 35% of car buyers in the U.S. opted for a finance agreement in 2019 because they couldn’t afford to buy a car with cash. While this might be a startling statistic, financing enables Americans to drive a car despite being on a tight budget and with very little to save. That explains why car financing is the go-to option for many car buyers.

How exactly does car financing work? A financial institution lends you the exact amount of money you need to purchase a specific car. In exchange, you must pay the lender interest and any required fees to borrow that money over a given number of months.

Dealer-arranged financing is often better than bank financing because the dealer does everything for you. All you need to do is choose the car you want and fill out a credit application, then the dealer will submit it to multiple lenders. That allows you to compare rates and terms to settle for the best option.

Trade-In

Trade-in refers to the act of selling to a car dealership. You can do this as part of the negotiation when purchasing another car, or you can do it for cash and walk out from the dealership with money. If you decide to trade your vehicle in and buy another, the dealership will deduct the trade-in amount from the negotiated price of the new car.

The amount the dealership agrees to pay for your used car is your car’s trade-in value, and it’s usually less than the car’s market value. Most of the time, a dealer will determine your car’s price using the Blue Book Value.

Blue Book Value

As a car owner, you need to have an idea of your car’s worth before moving forward with a trade-in or selling your car to another person. Kelley Blue Book is the automotive industry’s renowned resource for this very task because it has been publishing the prices of well-known used vehicles since 1926. Dealers and private sellers use this resource to determine the value of a particular vehicle based on its year, model, make, mileage, features, equipment, and condition.

As-Is

There are several conditions you can purchase a car in. Most people think of the terms “new” and “used.” However, a third condition that might show up on a car’s price tag is “as-is.” That is a legal term used to describe a used car’s state when it is up for sale. If you see this tag on a vehicle, it simply means that it is being sold exactly the way it is, with all the issues known and unknown.

This term excludes the seller from legal recourse if the car develops an unexpected problem after the sale. When a vehicle is sold as-is, it comes with no warranty, meaning that if it has a problem, it’s no longer the seller’s responsibility. Therefore, the buyer must cover all the necessary repair costs.

An “as-is” purchase is risky for the car buyer. While you might save money during the sale, buying an “as-is” car could end up costing you a lot more than you expect in repair and maintenance costs. You need to conduct thorough research before moving forward with the purchase. It’s best to look up the car on the internet to confirm its typical selling price, problems, and reliability. That will help you set the right expectation for the car.

Annual Percentage Rate (APR)

Annual percentage rate, commonly referred to by its initial or finance rate, is the interest rate on a car loan that the lender charges you annually. Often, when someone talks about APR, they are talking about the percentage of the total amount you borrowed from the lender, distributed over 12 months, and usually applies to purchasing a car or an unpaid lease.

There are two types of APR: variable and fixed. If you have a fixed APR, you must make fixed monthly payments throughout the entire term of your car loan. If you have a variable APR, that means your monthly rates can fluctuate. In the U.S., variable APRs usually depend on the Federal funds rate established by the Federal Reserve. Any time the Federal government decides to adjust the interest rates across the nation, variable APRs for car loans will change accordingly.

Destination Charges

A destination charge is an unavoidable cost that the manufacturer charges for transporting a new car from the factory to the dealership. The destination fee is not negotiable and is usually not factored in the advertised manufacturer’s suggested retail price (or MSRP). The destination fee of different cars varies from one automaker to the other.

The dealer may include this cost in their pricing. However, as a car buyer, you should never pay any additional destination fee unless you’ve agreed to such a charge for a car that must travel a long distance from a given dealership.

As an adventure enthusiast, owning a car allows you year-round visits to various destinations on your bucket lists. Regular servicing and maintenance are also necessary to ensure your vehicle is in good condition for better performance and driving experience. You may get these services from your mechanic or car dealership service center. Regardless, we highly recommend a car dealership service center since they have factory-trained technicians for your car service needs. Besides, your car dealership offers genuine spare parts from your vehicle manufacturer.

Car dealership services include oil and filter changes, tire rotation and wheel alignment, new tire installation, and engine repair and service. Plus, these centers offer tire inspection, battery service, Toyota Express Maintenance, and auto detailing services. Below, we highlight why scheduling your car service and maintenance at a car dealership is essential.

Factory-Trained Technicians

Car dealerships tend to employ technicians trained by automakers and who specialize in specific vehicle models. Most of these outlets also organize ongoing training programs for advisors, support staff, and service managers. Plus, they sponsor technicians’ training so these personnel are up to date on the latest vehicle modifications and repair methods.

Since factory-trained technicians know specific automaker models, car dealerships also offer incentives and higher wages to retain them. Local mechanics can also undergo training to be updated on the latest vehicle enhancements and receive Automotive Service Excellence certification. Similarly, factory technicians have ASE and automaker certifications, which are an added advantage.

That being said, local mechanics tend to have widespread knowledge of car service and maintenance, lowering the specialization level. This level may vary depending on the experience of the mechanic.

Service And Maintenance Guarantee

Your car dealership will carry out repairs and service for free if your car is still under warranty. Even so, the dealership must determine the specific issue before their technicians commence service. Your car dealership may also provide extended warranties from your automaker for your new or used car in Panama City.

Likewise, your local mechanic repair shop may give warranties on repairs and services. But rarely would they offer these for an extended timeframe like your car dealership would. What’s more, the mechanic’s repair shop warranty may cover either car parts or labor rather than both like your car dealership’s.

Another perk of contracting service to your car dealership is a professional service staff who can make recommendations depending on your car needs. Their factory-trained technicians also check the locations of the faulty components. And they’ll probably give future recommendations based on your automaker and service staff advisory.

Client Contentment

Your dealership’s technicians and support staff are, in a way, ambassadors of your automaker. So, they meet client needs and preferences and ensure top-notch standards. These are hallmarks of excellent customer service.

In contrast, your local mechanic shop is answerable to no authority besides you, the vehicle owner. But because they rely on referrals from their customers to keep thriving, you can expect decent service from them. Delivering satisfactory results is usually the only way they can maintain long-term relationships with their customers. Still, some local mechanic repair shops are incompetent.

Automaker Recalls And Technical Service Bulletins

Your car dealership gets notified first when your automaker recalls vehicles or distributes service bulletins — usually for a technical repair or problem. In fact, when you go for car service in Panama City, your car dealership technicians routinely assess any open recalls.

In the same vein, your local mechanic may access manufacturer technical service bulletins and recalls. Unfortunately, as these services are only available with a paid membership, not all mechanic repair shops subscribe. And you may still have to incur costs for servicing and repairs since your warranty may not be applicable there.

Genuine Automaker Car Parts

Servicing or repairing your car at a car dealership is perfect because they offer genuine car parts that meet your automaker’s standards. Additionally, you may get an annual mile warranty for service repairs and labor. Your automaker may also offer extended warranties and bear the labor costs at your car dealership.

Local mechanic repair shops may carry authentic car parts and offer aftermarket parts. Aftermarket parts function similarly to genuine car parts but are cheaper. The downside of these aftermarket parts is that they may be substandard. This limitation is why we recommend getting the original equipment, as this saves money and preserves a car’s condition for long.

Performance Upgrades

Most car dealerships now provide performance upgrades for their customers, unlike in the past years where only mechanic repair shops offered customization upgrades. This new trend is due to increased demand for aftermarket parts in recent years. Nowadays, automakers have introduced performance upgrade services through their various car dealerships. And since the dealerships have factory-trained technicians, you’re assured that the modifications won’t affect your car warranty.

Excellent Facilities

Your car dealership boasts spacious facilities with more service bays than your local mechanic’s. They may also get start-up finances from the automaker, including equipment. Additionally, car dealerships are organized and maintained better. Plus, you may get further services, such as having your car washed before you have it back.

Convenience

If your car is still under warranty or a maintenance plan cover, you may go for services and repair at your car dealership. Some car service departments may offer a shuttle back to your location if it exceeds 5 miles. Sometimes they’ll provide you with a loaner car during the period it’ll take their technicians to complete service or repair. Most times, these vehicles are from the dealership.

Home to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Panama City has more to offer than just surf and sand. While other areas of the country might be hunkered down due to frigid temperatures, Panama City is just getting the year started with these five hot and must-visit events during February 2022 highlighted by the team at Panama City Toyota

Food Trucks of America Food Truck Festival

On Feb. 5 and 6, the Food Trucks of America Food Truck Festival takes place at Aaron Bessant Park at 600 S. Pier Park Dr. Intending to introduce the community to gourmet food trucks and the small business owners who operate them, the two-day event is the ideal family-friendly event. Prices vary depending on how many days you plan to visit, if you want VIP access, and whether you plan to have a couple of beers.

As of early January 2022, some of the food trucks slated to attend include the following:

  • Bee Smoothie: For something a little healthier, stop at this food truck that serves real fruit smoothies without dairy products.
  • GetChewaBox: Serving traditional and non-traditional po’boy sandwiches, this food truck is run by a Panama City native. The most popular dishes are the Rich Boy, which has fish and crabmeat, and the Rich Girl, which has shrimp and crabmeat.
  • Melissa’s Kusina: This food truck serves Filipino-American cuisine, including pork belly adobo braised in Filipino soy sauce, garlic, peppercorn, and vinegar and served over a bed of Jasmine rice.
  • My Ohana: Bringing Pan-Asian cuisine to this festival, this truck was named the 2021 Finest Food Truck on the Emerald Coast by the NW Florida Daily News. Try the Karaage, which is Japanese-style fried chicken in a spicy Korean sauce and topped with Kewpie mayo. The Beef Bulgogi is also a must-try, and it features thin slices of beef marinated in soy sauce, garlic, and sesame oil.
  • Pineapple Island: This truck, which bills itself as “Fit for a King and His Queen,” specializes in serving beverages in a hollowed-out fresh pineapple. Around the rim of the pineapple are the interior rings of the delicious fruit, giving you practically an entire meal.
  • Thai Taste Express: Stop at this food truck to enjoy Thai-inspired dishes, including shrimp, chicken, and pork dumplings. Another popular choice is the chicken green curry served with Jasmine rice.
  • Thai 2 Go: The truck’s owner grew up cooking in her home country and now serves a specialty dish called larb, which is widely eaten in Thailand and Laos. Other menu items include many types of curry and spring rolls.
  • The Grub Slinger: Make sure you check out this blue food truck on Saturday, since it’s the only day the truck is scheduled to attend. Enjoy seafood with a southern flair, such as house-smoked tuna dip as well as shrimp and grits. Customers also line up for its loaded fries, which are smothered in chicken, cheese, salsa, pico de gallo, and cilantro creme.

Panama City Beach Mardi Gras And Music Festival

Combine the excitement of Mardi Gras with the stunning views of the emerald waters and white sands, and you have the Panama City Beach Mardi Gras and Music Festival. This two-day family-friendly event occurs on Feb. 11 and 12 at Pier Park in conjunction with the Krewe of Dominique Youx’s Mardi Gras at the Beach parade.

On Friday, the event kicks off at 4 p.m. with float tours on Pier Park Drive and the Kids Fun Zone at the Grand Theater Plaza. You won’t want to miss the adorable Kids Parade at 6 p.m., followed by the Opening Ceremonies and Kids’ Costume Contests on the Celebration Stage. Live music on opening night is performed by Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band. Fireworks off the Russell-Fields City Pier end the festivities at 8:30 p.m.

A Mardi Gras 5K and Fun Run at Frank Brown Park at 8 a.m. begin the festival’s second day. Other bands taking the stage include The Guess Who, Swingin’ Medallions, and Waylon Thibodeaux, known as the “Louisiana Rockin’ Fiddler.” If you missed the fireworks the previous evening, you have another shot at 7 p.m.

Bird Walk With Audubon

Head over to Conservation Park, which is just west of State Road 70 and north of Panama City Beach Parkway, on Feb. 12 for a Bird Walk With Audubon. This free event sponsored by the Bay County Audubon Society takes place from 7:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Bring your binoculars, mask, snacks, and drinks. If you don’t have binoculars, the group has a few to spare. Although the 2.5-mile walk is on a dirt road, it’s wide and wheelchair-accessible. Each walking group is limited to 10 people, and depending on the number of participants, there might be several groups.

SEG Bridal Show

Held on Feb. 20 from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the Sheraton Palm City Beach Golf and Beach Resort, the SEG Bridal Show helps connect soon-to-be-married couples with all the wedding resources they might need. Florists, bakers, caterers, photographers, travel agents, and managers of rental facilities all gather for this one-day event. Pre-sale tickets are $10, while those at the door are $15, with $2 of every ticket sold donated to Beach Care Services, which is a nonprofit that helps local people in need.

CAUSEway Car Show Cruizin’ For Kids

Now in its second year, the CAUSEway Car Show Cruizin’ for Kids is put on by the nonprofit 850 Crew Car Club. The 2022 event takes place at 9 a.m. on Feb. 26 at 501 Harrison Ave., with the city agreeing to shut down part of Beck Avenue to allow for more vehicles to be highlighted. All proceeds from the event go toward local children battling cancer, with the 2021 event raising more than $30,000. Food, drinks, and T-shirts are available for purchase, and prizes are awarded to the top vehicles.

Panama City Toyota

If you’re curious about whether a certified pre-owned vehicle is worth buying, then Panama City Toyota can help you make that critical decision. Unlike traditional used cars, a certified pre-owned vehicle (CPO) often has a number of additional advantages similar to what you might find if you were to buy an expensive new vehicle. We’ve compiled a list of the significant benefits you can gain when purchasing a certified pre-owned car.

High-Quality Vehicles

Although pre-owned vehicles are used, they must meet all the rigorous requirements to qualify for the Toyota Certified Used Vehicle (TCUV) program. These vehicles need less than 85,000 miles to be eligible for certification, and they must be a model newer than six years old.

You can rest assured that any vehicle you look at in this program has undergone an extensive vetting process. Only the best pre-owned vehicles are certified, meaning you’re getting a car that closely matches the quality of its newer counterparts. If a vehicle doesn’t meet the program requirements, it cannot become a certified pre-owned vehicle.

Due to the higher quality, you’re much better off buying a CPO vehicle than a standard used car that doesn’t have a warranty and hasn’t undergone a comprehensive inspection. Most CPOs also have a clean history and have never been in any major accidents. So, you’re less likely to encounter any critical hidden issues when purchasing a run-of-the-mill used vehicle.

Comprehensive Inspection

Panama City Toyota uses a 160-point system to ensure that vehicles in the TCUV program are in the most pristine condition. Inspections test the car’s exterior to make sure the overall appearance is free from dents, scratches, or other signs of damage. They also check the frame, underbody, and overall structure of the car, van, or SUV.

After a vehicle’s exterior inspection is complete, the engine undergoes testing for performance quality and damages. This test includes analyzing the oil and fluid levels for the power steering, transmission, brakes, and clutch components. Testing the total steering feature is especially important to ensure that a vehicle can drive straight on standard-level roadways. Any critical adjustments to these components are made accordingly.

It’s then necessary to inspect the brake system and the transmission. Following industry safety standards, brake pads must maintain at least 50% of their total wear. Tires are checked for model uniformity, damage, and vehicle compatibility. Finally, a vehicle’s interior is inspected to ensure the physical condition and visual appearance are acceptable.

Warranty And Buyback Protection

You can rest easy when you buy a CPO vehicle because the TCUV program provides a 12-month 12,000-mile complete warranty starting on the date of purchase. This benefit, combined with knowing that your vehicle went through a comprehensive inspection, illustrates how much care is put into each vehicle that goes through the certification process.

Furthermore, you also gain access to a seven-year powertrain warranty on your CPO vehicle. This warranty covers critical components like your transmission, engine, and other internal parts. You may benefit from travel protections that reimburse you for lodging if a powertrain problem occurs while you’re within 150 miles from home.

As a CPO buyer, you may also benefit from a return policy. This means that the dealership buys back the vehicle if the odometer rolls back or if it’s been exposed to severe fire or flood damage. You generally have a set amount of days or miles to decide whether you want to keep your new pre-owned vehicle or swap it out for a different model.

Roadside Assistance

Toyota provides all certified pre-owned vehicles with a full year of roadside assistance. This benefit begins on the vehicle purchase date and includes various services like jump starts, lockouts, and tire blowouts. The roadside assistance program also covers the cost of fuel delivery and towing services through a reimbursement program with the nearest Toyota dealership.

There is absolutely no cost to using roadside assistance. It’s available 24 hours a day, all year round. You simply have to call the toll-free number to access the service. These are the types of benefits you often get when purchasing a new vehicle, but you get these services without the new vehicle price tag.

If your vehicle is out of commission, you might also receive a car-rental allowance so you can continue handling urgent business with minimal disruptions. The Toyota-certified pre-owned vehicle program has been in operation for over 20 years. A large part of its success is attributed to all the additional protections and services customers receive.

Cost-Effective

If you consider the roadside assistance, warranties, and other protections you receive when buying a certified pre-owned vehicle, that is a tremendous amount of savings. Furthermore, it’s very common for a CPO listing to be much lower than a new vehicle of the same make. Even buying a pre-owned model from the current year will be cheaper than when it was newly released just mere months before.

Aside from the cost-savings, a CPO vehicle helps you avoid substantial car value depreciation, often seen with new vehicles as soon as they drive off the lot. Choosing a pre-owned vehicle is incredibly beneficial since you can buy it at a lower price, saving money in the process.

The money you save from buying a CPO vehicle can be used for other circumstances, like an unexpected car repair or cosmetic alterations. These are just some of the reasons why the TCUV program is so advantageous. Trust that buying a more cost-effective vehicle while still gaining the benefits of a new one is a win-win situation.

As you can see, there are many poignant reasons why it’s worth it to buy a certified pre-owned vehicle. Without having to spend extensive amounts of money or sign up for a hefty long-lasting loan program, put your mind at ease that the CPO vehicle you purchase is affordable, protected, and in like-new condition. Contact Panama City Toyota today to get started. We can’t wait to help you purchase the vehicle of your dreams.

Pick Up Flowers At A Local Flower Shop

Image via Unsplash by Alisa Anton

There’s almost nothing more romantic than giving flowers to your crush. Start your date off right by visiting a local flower shop and picking out beautiful bouquets for each other. Supporting local businesses is a superb way to help your community and protect the environment. Not to mention, flower shops can be excellent photo opportunities.

While some flower shops primarily cater to special events like weddings and baby showers, there are some florists, garden centers, and nurseries in the area that are great for in-store shopping. Consider checking out Magnolia’s Flowers on Front Beach Road, a popular spot for both plants and gifts. Plant lovers may also enjoy visiting the Lotus Cafe & Juice Bar at Zen Garden on Richard Jackson Boulevard and enjoying a walk through the gardens instead of buying a bouquet.

Do A Fun Activity

If you’re feeling sporty, Panama City offers plenty of opportunities to engage in a little friendly competition. Access your inner child and play mini-golf at Pirate’s Island Adventure Golf on Front Beach Road. Pick from a variety of fun activities at Rock’it Lanes bowling alley on Richard Jackson Boulevard, which also offers a roller skating rink, arcade, billiards, and a sports bar. Work together to solve a puzzle at the Royal Escape Rooms, which has locations in Pier Park and the Shoppes at Edgewater. Or relieve your joint stress at one of the local axe throwing bars.

Stop For A Predinner Drink

Grabbing a drink at one of the many bars in the city is a great way to explore the neighborhood and take a moment to chat with your date in a relaxed setting. Plus, you definitely won’t have trouble finding one. If it’s before 5 p.m., consider delighting your taste buds with a fruity Florida wine at Panama City Beach Winery. Split a bottle of specialty wine with your date or have a wine slush mix. If it’s later in the evening, you might try Craft 850, a homey tavern with a fireplace and over 65 craft beers on tap.

To enjoy cocktails with a view, No Name Lounge could be a great option with its spacious deck by the water, food trucks, and live bands. If you go to a place like Runaway Island, you could literally step onto the sand from the restaurant. This casual beach bar and grill offer local crab, oysters, sandwiches, and a selection of beers and drinks. Another casual option is Pineapple Willy’s, a popular on-the-sand joint offering frozen drinks and live music.

Make Reservations At A Popular Restaurant

Make your evening extra special by treating your date to dinner at a nice restaurant, of which there’s no shortage in Panama City. Schedule advanced reservations to ensure you get your preferred seating. One wonderful option is Firefly on Richard Jackson Boulevard, a romantic seafood spot with a creative menu and a full bar. Request outdoor seating to enjoy a captivating atmosphere under the restaurant’s iconically twinkling oak tree. If you’re craving Italian, you could try Ferrucci Ristorante, a quaint spot that offers a full menu of Italian dishes and pastas, an extensive wine list, and occasional live music.

Go For A Romantic Stroll Around Town

Taking a walk together gives you and your date time to talk, laugh, and see the sights. Go on a romantic evening or moonlit stroll around the city or along the beach. Try Russell-Fields Pier, a popular lookout for fishing, sea turtle spotting, and enchanting views over the Gulf of Mexico. It’s next to Public Beach Access 54 and Panama City’s dedicated dog beach, so you might even spot some cute puppies to pet. If you time it just right, you may even experience a dramatic, gorgeous, and colorful sunset sky.

Another option could be Rick Seltzer Park, a public swimming beach with restrooms, rinse stations, picnic areas, and a pavilion. If you’ve planned your date for earlier in the evening, you could also try exploring a nature trail or taking a boat tour at St. Andrews State Park. For an extra layer of romance, you might take your date to see an aerial view of the lively beach town by going on the SkyWheel at Panama City Beach. Enjoy picture-perfect scenes of a stunning sunset or the twinkling city lights.

Wrap Up With Ice Cream Or Dessert

End your night perfectly by sharing something sweet with your date. Sink your teeth into a warm, homemade, Southern-style pie or another sugary treat at Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop. If it’s been a warm evening, cool off with ice cream at Pink Pelican Ice Cream Bar, Hershey’s Beach Ice Cream Shop, or Kilwins Ice Cream & Fudge of PCB. For an especially photogenic dessert, try a loaded specialty milkshake from The Yard Milkshake Bar. Take your ice cream to go and walk to the beach to enjoy your desserts and an ocean view.

At Panama City Toyota, we enjoy the many great options our city provides for having fun and making memories. Trying new combinations of adventures can lift your spirits and make your date happy. Make sure to map each location out in advance so you can choose a good route, plan transportation and parking, and know exactly where you’re going each step of the way.
